What draws philanthropists to cultural galas? The December 9 FAMSF event at San Francisco’s Legion of Honor offered art, community, and the opportunity to support public institutions serving Bay Area audiences.
More than 220 guests attended the evening, which featured a private exhibition viewing, seated dinner, and dancing. The gathering brought together individuals whose motivations ranged from artistic appreciation to social connection to direct philanthropic commitment.
The Art
“Manet & Morisot” served as the evening’s artistic centerpiece. The exhibition, running through March 2026, marks the first major show dedicated to the relationship between two French Impressionists whose personal and professional lives intertwined.
Chief Curator Emily Beeny led guests through a private preview before dinner. The Legion of Honor’s European paintings collection provided a backdrop for an evening that connected contemporary philanthropy with historical artistry.
The Community
JP Conte was photographed with Nick Podell, Katie Traina, Todd Traina, and Allison Speer. Gala co-chairs welcomed guests personally, fostering conversation among diverse attendees united by shared interest in sustaining cultural institutions.
The black-tie setting encouraged relationship building that extends beyond single events. San Francisco’s philanthropic community shares overlapping memberships across arts, education, and civic organizations, and galas provide opportunities to strengthen those connections.
The Mission
JP Conte’s presence shows commitment to institutional support. His foundation has funded educational programs at 11 universities through the Conte First Generation Fund, providing scholarships and resources for first-generation college students.
The FAMSF gala directly supports similar programming in the arts. Proceeds fund exhibitions and educational initiatives reaching Bay Area communities through inclusive programs designed for diverse audiences. Upcoming FAMSF events continue the organization’s mission of connecting visitors with local and global art.
